Meet our caring and compassionate veterinary care team

Mounds View Animal Hospital’s staff of well-trained and experienced veterinary professionals are dedicated to providing your pets with the best possible care so that they may live long, happy and healthy lives.

We believe that it’s vital to take the time to really listen to your questions and concerns in order to best help you and your pet. Since it’s important for you to know as much as possible about your pet’s problem, we will carefully explain the situation and what needs to be done, as well as describing all the available options.

Dr. Kevin Barcus, D.V.M. / Owner

Dr. Barcus is a native of Menomonie, Wisconsin where his father is also a veterinarian. He received his undergraduate training at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, and his D.V.M. degree from the University of Minnesota, College of Veterinary Medicine in 1986. Dr. Barcus is married and lives in Shoreview with his wife Vicki, and 2 cats.

Dr. Tanya Femrite, D.V.M.

Dr. Femrite is a native of Dawson, Minnesota. She received her undergraduate training from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She received her D.V.M. degree from the University of Minnesota, College of Veterinary Medicine in 2000. Dr. Femrite currently resides in Blaine with her cat Issy Bee. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends. Also enjoys trail riding, four-wheeling, and spending time outdoors.

Dr. Sara Olsson, D.V.M.

Dr. Sara Olsson is from Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin.  She graduated from Iowa State University with her DVM in 2017.  She also received a Master of Public Health, MPH, from the University of Iowa in 2016. Dr. Sara completed a B.S. at the University of Minnesota in 2012 so she is very familiar with the area.  She lives in White Bear Lake with her rescue cat Mille.  She enjoys traveling and spending time with family and friends.

Dr. Kylie Thompson, D.V.M.

Dr. Kylie is from Milbank, South Dakota. She obtained her DVM degree in 2017 from Iowa State University and her B.S. in Microbiology from South Dakota State University in 2013. She lives in Shoreview with her husband Greg, son,  dog Otis, and 2 cats. They have multiple freshwater aquariums and are fond of hiking and foraging.

Dr. Roland Lefebvre, D.V.M.

Dr. Lefebvre received his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Minnesota in 2016. His interests include medicine, surgery, dentistry, and ultrasound. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter as well as getting outdoors to mountain bike, rock climb, hike, and canoe.

Dr. Karen Borgert, D.V.M.

Dr. Borgert is a native of Roseville, Minnesota. She received her undergraduate training at the college of St. Olaf, and her D.V.M. degree from the University of Minnesota, College of Veterinary Medicine in 1991. Dr. Borgert is married and lives in Blaine with her husband Tim, and Labrador Sophie.

She will be filling in periodically as a support Veterinarian part-time.
